Katherine Jansen-Byrkit
After obtaining a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Washington, Katherine Jansen-Byrkit, MPH, LPC, started her professional work focusing on violence prevention and teen health in non-profit agencies. To her surprise, Katherine experienced an inner calling to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a therapist. She went on to obtain her Master’s in Counseling from Lewis and Clark College and then founded Innergy Counseling, her private practice.
Parallel to her professional journey, Katherine has also been on a spiritual path. At the age of 12, she discovered Transcendental Meditation, which she has continued in her adult years, including participation in silent meditation retreats. As Katherine began learning more from non-dualistic teachers, she began to see that her spiritual perspective and experience could be helpful for her clients. With that awareness, she started to offer ideas and practices of embodied wakefulness, including aspects of her own journey, helping her clients deepen their ability to live and love consciously. Katherine now enjoys integrating the tenants of Public Health, principles of psychotherapy, and aspects of non-dualistic teachings in her work as a therapist, author, and teacher.
