Brand New Day

Greetings and welcome to each and all of you! I hope this message finds you safe and well. I have had the honor this month of participating in several interviews with Podcasters discussing embodied wakefulness and the idea that true wakefulness touches every part of our lives. Our honest conversations were not about theory, but the real, “how do you really make this happen” kind of focus, which I greatly appreciate. Jonathan Westover, Ph.D. with Human Capitol Innovations, and I dove into the area of wakefulness as applied to leadership and professional environments. Our dialogue included the limits of individualism and the need to come from the interconnectedness that weaves us together. We explored the possibility that real collaboration does not have to feel like compromise and giving in, and instead offers a sustainable and powerful path forward. I choose the title Brand New Day to inspire a stirring, wherever and whatever that looks like for you and at whatever scale. Maybe the words stir inside of you a shift in your mindset, like the lyrics of the song, Brand New Day by Sting speak to, reminding us that we can turn the day around at any point. This idea has saved me many times from giving up on what I believed was a “bad day” long before the day was done. For some of us though, Brand New Day, invites something more. For me, it inspires deepening my relationship practices around curiosity and engagement as well as taking my commitment to climate health and social justice to the next level. So what about you…..what does Brand New Day evoke and how can you take the answer you find into your life?

“Nature as You” is one of the aspects of wakefulness I explore in my book, River to Ocean: Living in the Flow of Wakefulness, available online and via my website here. Our connection to the natural world not only impacts our well-being but ultimately the planet itself. I recently watched a powerful documentary that left me feeling hopeful and excited. The movie focuses both on the idea of regeneration and brings typically conflicting perspectives together. There was room for so many more at the table around our climate crisis, which for me is reflective of true collaboration. It is called “Kiss the Ground” available via Netflix and I encourage you to watch it soon. Check it out here.

May you experience a brand new day, each day, in powerful and meaningful ways…

Warmly,

Katherine
